The European Sourcebook of Crime and Criminal Justice Statistics offers a comparative presentation of the European criminal justice systems. In view of the problems posed by cross-border crime, a criminology that sets out to meet current challenges cannot limit itself to national contexts and assessments. The Sourcebook Project is much more than a mere compilation of statistical figures: it also offers commentaries on the different criminal justice systems, notifications of legal amendments and trend analyses of various developments in figures. Projects like the European Sourcebook of Crime and Criminal Justice Statistics can contribute to ensuring that the international aspirations of criminology do not remain a mere demand but become a reality.
To date, six editions have been published respectively in the years 1999, 2003, 2006, 2010 and 2014 (revision of the 2014 edition in a second edition in 2017) and in 2021:
