Bundeskriminalamt (BKA)

Basic and Advanced Police Training

Kriminalpolizeiliche Aus- und Fortbildung

The Bundeskriminalamt trains its own CID officers. Officer candidates receive their training during a three-year course of studies at the Federal College of Public Administration as preparation for service. The course of studies is broken down into 21 theoretical and 15 practical training months.

On completion of the studies at the aforementioned college, the CID officers are assigned to pay grade A 9 of the higher police career level.

Besides this, the BKA also provides training for civil servants at state and federal level to qualify them as experts in the fields of forensic science and fingerprinting. Further numerous special training courses, advanced training measures in the fields of science and technology, language courses and task-related operational training round off the basic and advanced training programme.

Furthermore, the BKA provides basic and advanced training for police officers from other countries.
