In the "global village" of the communication age, crime knows no frontiers.
The "Technologies" group of the Bundeskriminalamt has drawn consequences from this and maintains a variety of contacts with foreign police authorities in the field of technical research, development and testing, and, should the situation call for it, aims to extend these contacts at any time.
The objective is
- to foment the exchange of experience and information,
- to focus resources through joint projects,
- to co-ordinate assessments and set targets of the future technological challenges.
As represented by the "Technologies" group, the Bundeskriminalamt is partner of a "joint declaration" for co-operation at international level with the
- Laboratory and Scientific Services Directory (LSSD), Canada (since 1994), and
- United States Secret Service (USSS), USA (since 1998).United States Secret Service (USSS), USA (since 1998).
Since 1996, the BKA is partner of a "trilateral declaration" together with the
- Police Scientific Development Branch (PSDB), UK
- Korps Landelijke Politiediensten (KLPD), The Netherlands.Korps Landelijke Politiediensten (KLPD), The Netherlands.
Another co-operation initiative exists with:
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canada.
